About the Preceptor
Za’Yn Muhammad is an international advocate for women’s health, education and holistic wellness. While attending the University of Kentucky as a medical anthropology major, this D.C. native also completed a rigorous five year direct apprenticeship in midwifery and reproductive health services. She is a Certified Life Coach, Graphic facilitation trainer and Life Mapping expert.
Ms. Muhammad developed The Transformations Rites of Passage Program in 1994 to support a group of women in the development of a Rites program for themselves and their daughters. Za’Yn has been commissioned to create self –development, parenting and rites of passage curricula and programs for many of the nation’s most widely recognized organizations including the National YWCA & YMCA, Florence Crittenden house and shelters, St. Mary’s Women’s & Children’s Centers, Planned Parenthood, The Junior League and The Girls Scouts of America to name a few. She has served as member of The Edna Adan Maternity Hospital of Djibouti and as a board member to The African Birth Collective.
Since her start in the early 90’s, she has facilitated countless Rites programs and feels that she is divinely guided and blessed to do this work. Za’Yn is the founder of The Healing Lodge where she serves as the Preceptor of its programs and continues to act as a consultant to schools and agencies worldwide on matters relevant to women’s health and development. She has three daughters, a loving and dedicated co-parent and surrounds herself with all the women in her life; mothers, grandmothers, sisters, nieces and lots of sister-friends.
